I created sp_health_check because I constantly needed to get a basic status and specs of Microsoft SQL Servers that I was not familiar with. At that time, I was working as a DBA for a major company that had a couple thousand instances in which I would constantly assist with incidents. That required me to have a solid overview of the server in question in the shortest possible time to be able to address the situation at hand.

Throughout the years, I’ve been able to add more features and polish the existing ones to a degree that I am comfortable with.

Just like any other database professional, I’ve been able to acquire knowledge from all kinds of sources, but most importantly, from people that are willing to freely share their expertise. The purpose of publishing sp_health_check is to contribute with my bit.
